CSDA Launches Statewide Public Outreach & Awareness Campaign

SACRAMENTO - The California Special Districts Association (CSDA) announced the launch of its public outreach campaign, Districts Make the Difference. The campaign is aimed at educating the public about special districts and the crucial services they provide to communities throughout California.

“While Californians place a high value on the services provided by special districts, we want to help the public identify, understand and connect with who is actually providing these essential services…special districts,” said CSDA Chief Executive Officer Neil McCormick. “This campaign is designed to showcase and humanize these local agencies by relating what the services mean and deliver to communities.”

As part of its public outreach and awareness efforts, CSDA has developed a website based platform that will feature valuable information about special districts and tell the story about each type of district. Additionally, there are links to various tools like a comprehensive map that assist the public in identifying and connecting with districts that serve them.

The Districts Make the Difference website will feature important information as well as communication materials that may be utilized to spread the message and educate the public about the crucial services that special districts deliver to millions of Californians.

“Anyone interested in spreading the message is welcome to participate in the campaign,” said CSDA Public Affairs Specialist Bernice J. Creager. “Our goal is to make sure everyone knows and understands the important role special districts play in our communities, and we have developed a toolkit with videos, posters, fact sheets, and other materials that is available for statewide distribution.”

CSDA expects to continue developing materials for the public outreach and awareness campaign and will work collaboratively with its members and special districts throughout the state to further these efforts.
