Three local organizations team up to donate teddy bears for ER patients
The San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control District, Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center, and the SLO Blues Baseball Organization partnered up to make hospital visits easier for young kids.
For every double play the SLO Blues turned, SLO Air Pollution Control District donated two teddy bears to Sierra Vista's Emergency Room.
"I think it gives them something else to hold on to," said Blues General Manager Adam Stowe. "It calms their nerves a little bit and probably helps their treatment along a little bit."
This past season, the Blues completed 37 double plays and donated one bear for every five sold at their games. This brought the total number of teddy bears donated to 80.
The bears were given to patients between the ages of three and 12.
This is the second year the organizations have teamed up. Unfortunately this year they did not get as many bears as last year, but there is always next season which begins May 2017.
