The launch of the app falls in line with the district's new strategic plan to become more customer-driven. According to Bob Fugett, general superintendent for customer operations, "We wanted to be able to offer real-time communication intuitively and efficiently."
Fugett says that the district is striving toward this goal by, "... using traditional and emerging media platforms, providing innovative services and new technology choices." These innovative services include features such as outage updates, usage information, and service requests. Additionally, new technology allows customers to enroll in exclusive programs such as paperless billing and mobile pay.
IID Customer Connect is compatible with both Android and IOS devices and is available for download in the Apple App Store and Google Play. To register, customers must provide their account number, email address, and the last four digits of the primary account holder's social security number.
